Deleting a client's data
The right to erasure: what is wiped for good, what stays without the person and how to confirm the operation.
A client may demand that their personal data be deleted. In Pitly it is an irreversible operation available to the company owner only — with a confirmation and a receipt.
Wiped for good
- name, phone, e-mail, comments and internal notes;
- every photo of the client's cars together with the files on disk;
- issued PDFs — work orders, invoices and acts (if you need them, issue them again beforehand and keep them outside Pitly);
- the chat conversation, recommendations, plates and VINs of the cars;
- access to the client account and e-mails still waiting in the queue.
What stays — without the person
- work orders, their totals and dates: bookkeeping must keep them;
- ratings — as anonymous reviews;
- the client card — an empty shell marked "Client removed": the company's orders and bookings refer to it.
How to do it
- First check whether you must keep the data by law or because of a running warranty, and make a data copy if needed.
- In the client card, "Personal data" block, press "Erase data".
- Read the list, type the client's name into the confirmation field and press "Erase permanently".
- A receipt appears: the date, the number of affected records and files, the receipt number. The same numbers are stored on the server — your proof that the request was fulfilled.
If the storage could not delete some files, the receipt says so; run the erasure again — repeating is safe.
